Splish, splash

You have the feeders, you have the seed, you have the houses. What next? Baths! Aquatics! Baths can be an excellent way to bring in other birds to your yard, even ones that don't normally eat seed at the feeders. Just this week, we've had a great crested flycatcher, a bluebird family, and american redstarts to our ground bath at home.

Pedestal baths are perhaps the most traditional bath, and do a good job of bringing the birds up where they're easy to see. If you go for a pedestal type, keep the water under an inch and a half deep. Placing rocks in the middle also helps attract the birds, as they can pick the depth they want to bathe at.

Baths should be placed within 10 feet of cover.

Ground baths mimic what birds bathe in naturally, and therefore tend to attract the most birds.

Any bath can be treated with Carefree Enzymes Bath Protector to keep them clean, preventing the buildup of algae and sludge that can be harmful to birds, without the use of chemicals like bleach.

Baths can be kept open all year round with the use of a heater, but be sure to take in porcelain, ceramic, and stone baths for the winter!

Thanks to our loyal customers!!!!

We would like to sincerely thank you all: With your help, we've become the top performing Wild Bird Center Store out of the 16 located throughout the midwest for the 2nd quarter of 2008. We all obviously take great care of our wild birds!
