Katy:Usually, using a clinging feeder without perches discourages grackles. Also, they usually don't eat safflower seed, while other desirable birds can acquire a taste for it. Cages also can be effective in some situations. |
Kent:Is there a way to keep the grackles out of the feeders? |
Freeman:You make my day! |
Jan:There are special feeders available that exclude starlings. You could also try a new kind of safflower called nutra safflower (also known as "gold safflower"). Starlings don't like it! |
SparkyH:How do I get rid of the pesky starlings and sparrows that take over my feeders daily? |
Mary:We consider it a good day if we see a cardinal. Most ever at one time was 3..until Christmas Day. We had 9 all at one time!! In the feeder, the bird bath & on the ground. Best present ever! |
Jan :Ben, thanks for your question. Sounds like an Oregon Junco, which is a color variation of the Dark eyed Junco. They are relatively uncommon here. Good sighting! |
Ben:I saw a bird at the bottom of my feeder that looked like the rest of the black and white birds at the bottom except he had a brown back and black head. Why was he different? |
